1) Go to desktop, Right click on it.

2) Select New >> Shortcut.

3) In new shortcut wizard window type "shutdown -s -t 01" in location.

4) Click Next.

5) Give any name to shortcut, I gave shutdown.

6) Click OK.

Its done.

now you can shutdown your computer by clicking on that shortcut.

Delete Items from address bar history in Mozilla Firefox - Cool Computer Tricks

Make a folder named "CON" or "PRN" - Cool Computer Tricks

Do you know that you cant make a folder named as "con" or "prn". If u dnt believe then try to rename a folder give its new name con. It will give error that 'Specified Device name is invalid'. There are many words like con. Some of are them PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5,COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6,LPT7, LPT8, LPT9.

These words are windows inbuilt reserved device names. so we cant use them.

But here I provide you a trick by which you can name a folder by any of the above specified names, So go n challenge your friends and prove your superiority..

Here is solution, follow these steps:

1) Open Command Prompt (Type cmd in Run).

2) Type md \\.\d:\con to create a con folder in d drive, You can replace d with any drive .

Its done.

Now for deleting it Type
rd \\.\d:\con

Add Specific folder in SEND TO option of right click - Cool Computer Tricks

If you save files very oftenly in one particular folder and tierd of using traditional copy n paste then this is a perfect trick for you... By this you can add that folder in Send To option of right click functionalities and can use it to transfer files to that folder. This is only for xp users.

Its very simple, just follow these steps:

1) Open any Folder.
2) Then, Tools >> Folder Options.

3) Click view Tab.

4) In list of Advance Settings, click Show hidden files and folders .

5) Go to C:\Documents and Settings.

6) Open your (username) folder !

7) Now, open SendTo folder.

8) Here copy and paste the shortcut of your favorite folder.

Now you can send files by just right cliking on that file then choose send to and folder name.

Stop Restart OR Shutdown Process

In Window XP, Sometimes it gives an autorestarting warning with no option for postpone on it, Window vista gives that warning with postpone option. Sometimes its very annoying, If you use XP and doing some urgent work and you dont have enough time and at that moment, If it gave that autorestart warning, then you can do nothing except wait for it to restart but now here is one solution, By using this you can abort that restarting process. Just follow these steps:

1) Open command Prompt.

2) Type shutdown -a.

It will abort shutdown process. You can also abort it by simply writing shutdown -a in run window.

Block a website without a software

Do you know that, You can block any site which you don't want to see. For this you dont need any software just follow these steps:

1) Open mycomputer.

2) Browse C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.

3) Open file with a name HOSTS in notepad.

4) In this notepad file, Find 127.0.0.1 and Add 127.0.0.2

www.xyz.com (websites URL) , Under "127.0.0.1 localhost".

5) Save this notepad file and close it.

Now xyz.com is no longer acessebile.

Enable Right click on Websites which had disabled it

Lots of web sites have disabled the right click function of the mouse button...which disables all functionalities like: Copy, Paste, Open in new tab, Open in new Window etc.. It's really very annoying. But you need not to worry, now you can enable right click on those websites, It's very easy to change this setting in Internet Explorer, Just follow these steps:

1) Click Tools -> Internet Options.

2) In Internet settings window, Click on Security tab.

3) Then Click on Custom Level button.

4) In Security settings window, Scroll down to the Scripting section.

5) Set Active Scripting to disable.

6) Click Ok a couple of times.

you can also turn it enable anytime to disable right click on those sites by following same procedure..

Hide data in notepad

Do you know that you can hide data in a notepad file. You can save any of your confidental data in a notepad file in such a way that noone is able to see it except you. just follow these steps:

1) Open command Prompt (type cmd in run).

2) You may change to any directory where you want to save that file.

3) Type notepad filename.txt:StoreHiddenData then press enter. here filename is name of file for example if i want to create a notepad file of name secret then i will write notepad secret.txt:StoreHiddenData. This will create a text file secret.txt.

4) A message will be pop up Cannot find the D:\secret.txt:StoreHiddenData.txt file. Do you want to create a new file?, click OK button to proceed create the new file.

5) A notepad will be pop up. Type data that you want to hide from others. Save the file and you are now successfully creating hidden data for this file.

6) close cmd.

A notepad file secret.txt is successfuly created which contains hidden data. When you open secret.txt, it seems empty. Actualy your data is hidden so you are not able to see it, if you want to see your hidden data then open cmd and type notepad secret.txt:StoreHiddenData. A notepad file will be pop up which contains hidden data.

Improve font display in window xp

Now you can improve font display in window XP. Window xp has ClearType, a Microsoft's anti-aliasing font display technology that can dramatically improves font display. but it isnt enabled by default in xp you have to enable it.

To enable ClearType:

1) Right click on the desktop, select Properties.

2) Go to Appearance, Effects and then select ClearType from the second drop-down menu.

3) Enable ClearType.

If you want to use ClearType on the Welcome login screen as well, follow these steps:

1) Go to run, type regedit.

2) regedit editor window appears here go to HKEY_USERS/.DEFAULT/Control Panel/Desktop/FontSmoothing.

3) Set value of FontSmoothing to 2.

It gives best results on laptop displays.

Kill tasks without using task manager

Now you can kill a task or a process without using task manager. you can do it in command Prompt. To see process details and their pid type "tasklist" in command prompt. it will display list of all tasks. now you can kill any process just by typing taskkill /pid with its pid. suppose you want to kill a process whose pid is 2690 then you have to write "taskkill /pid 2690" If this process id is not valid id then it will give an error message otherwise it will kill that process instantly.

Format text In Chat Window

You can format text on Google Talk .. there are no visible buttons present for Bold and italics, but You can do basic formatting in Google Talk can make the text bold and italic. To make the text bold, just enclose it within *asterisks* and to make it italic, just enclose it within _underscores_

If you want to write Hello in bold then write within asthrisks like *Hello*

and if want to write this in italic then write within underscores like _Hello_

And If you want bold as well as italics then go for *_Hello_*

Control your Idle Status on Google Talk

Do you wanna control your gtalk idle status? If yes, then here is trick to control Idle Status on Google Talk.

You can choose always idle to remain idle always, it will show you idle evan when you are chatting. Also you can choose Never idle, It will never show you idle.

For this you have to install gAlwaysIdle , and here you can choose to remain either ‘Always Idle’ or ‘Never Idle’. Just by right clicking on the Google Talk system tray icon.

Google Talk, by default, doesn’t provide a way to log in to multiple accounts at once. But now you can launch multiple instances of Google Talk, so you can login to multiple Google Talk accounts and chat with your friends of both accounts simultaneously.

Follow these steps:

1). If your desktop dosent have Gtalk shortcut then create a gatlk shortcut on your desktop.

2). Right click on gtalk shortcut and go to properties.

3). appending the parameter /nomutex to the target, like this:"C:\Users\hp\AppData\Roaming\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe" /nomutex.

4). click OK.

Now you can use this shortcut to launch multiple instances of Google Talk log in with different users name and enjoy chatting...
