Place facebook chat on Firefox sidebar - Cool Tricks

Facebook Chat allows you to send instant messages to online Facebook contacts. However its chat bar is not so handy, being at the bottom of the page n what if you have left Facebook but still wants to remain chatting with your Facebook contacts? If you are using Firefox, you can place the Facebook Chat at the sidebar.


Just follow these steps:

1). Open Firefox.

2). Go to Bookmarks on the top navigation. Select Organize Bookmarks.

3). Click New Bookmark tab.

4). Enter Name: Facebook Chat and Location http://www.facebook.com/presence/popout.php.


5). Check Load this bookmark in sidebar.

6). Click on Add.

7). Now launch Firefox sidebar. To launch firefox go to view and then on sidebar and click on bookmark select Facebook Chat and start chatting with your Facebook contacts within Firefox.

Its done.

Avoid Instant Message Viruses - Useful tips

As with most threats on the Internet, you can help keep yourself safe by taking basic precautions. So here are some useful tips to avoid instant message viruses

1). Be careful with links and files in IM. Never click a link or open, accept, or download a file in IM from someone you don't know. If the link or file is in an IM from someone you do know, don't click the link or open the file unless you know what the link or file is and you were expecting it. Contact the sender by e-mail, phone, or some other method to confirm that what they sent was not a virus.

2). Update your Windows software. Visit Microsoft Update to scan your computer and install any high-priority updates that are offered to you. If you use automatic updating, the updates are delivered to you when they are released, but you have to make sure you install them.

3). Make sure you're using an updated version of your IM software. Using the most up-to-date version of your IM software can better protect your computer against viruses and spyware. It can block attachments that might contain malware and allow you to scan attachments for viruses.

4). Use antivirus software and keep it updated. Antivirus software can help to detect and remove IM viruses from your computer, but only if you keep the antivirus software current. If you've purchased a subscription from an antivirus software company, your antivirus software may update itself when you're connected to the Internet.

5). Use antispyware software and keep it updated. Some IM viruses may install spyware or other unwanted software on your computer. Antispyware software can help to protect your computer from spyware and remove any spyware you may already have. If you don't have antispyware software, you can download Windows Defender. Windows Defender comes with Windows Vista. If you use Windows XP SP2, you can download Windows Defender for no charge.

Gtalk Chat Shortcut - Cool Computer Tricks

If you chat very frequently with one of your friend then now you can make gtalk chat shortcut on your desktop. It willl initiate a chat with only one click. On click it opens a chat window where you can chat with your friend. But unfortunately this trick works only in window xp nt in window vista.

Here are steps to follow:

1) Right click on your desktop and go to New > Shortcut.

2) In create shortcut window, type gtalk:chat?jid=username@gmail.com. Where username is gmail id of your friend.

3) Click ok.

Its done.

You can also make shortcut to call your friend for that you have to write gtalk:call?jid=username@gmail.com.

Chat in hindi in google talk

Do you want to chat with your friends in hindi ??? or want to set your tagline in hindi???if yes then now you can do it easily. Google released Chat bots to translate English into Hindi. So now you can send text in Hindi to your friends during chats. For this you have to add google transaltion bot to your friend list. just follow this..

1) Send friend request to en2hi@bot.talk.google.com .

2) You will have a new buddy added as en2hi@bot.talk.google.com, Start Chat with it.

3) Type anything in English and it will translate it into Hindi and reply.

so you can copy the text from this window and can paste it anywhere...in chat windows or even in your status message..

Format text In Chat Window

You can format text on Google Talk .. there are no visible buttons present for Bold and italics, but You can do basic formatting in Google Talk can make the text bold and italic. To make the text bold, just enclose it within *asterisks* and to make it italic, just enclose it within _underscores_

If you want to write Hello in bold then write within asthrisks like *Hello*

and if want to write this in italic then write within underscores like _Hello_

And If you want bold as well as italics then go for *_Hello_*

Control your Idle Status on Google Talk

Do you wanna control your gtalk idle status? If yes, then here is trick to control Idle Status on Google Talk.

You can choose always idle to remain idle always, it will show you idle evan when you are chatting. Also you can choose Never idle, It will never show you idle.

For this you have to install gAlwaysIdle , and here you can choose to remain either ‘Always Idle’ or ‘Never Idle’. Just by right clicking on the Google Talk system tray icon.

Find who is invisible in gmail chat (Gtalk)

If you want to know that your particular friend is online and invisible or he/she is offline. Then here is an easy way to find this :

Open your gtalk application and type this email address of your friend in top search textbox

Click his/her profile, it opens in new chatting window.

Click on the down arrow button in the top right corner of the window, here ther is one option Go off the record, click on it.

And then leave any msseage to your friend.

If you get a red text showing the person is offline , can’t receive the message right now that means person is offline and if you dnt recieve such kind of any message then your friend is invisible
